Forrester Pulling Team- Ford New Holland
For the Forrester Pulling Team of Chambersburg, Penn., tractor pulling has been a part of their lives for as long as they can remember. Comprised of family and friends, A.J. Forrester started the team in the early 1970s when the pulling sport was just beginning.
The Forresters were the only team competing with Ford tractors at the time; other competitors were pulling with John Deere, Case, International and Allis Chalmers tractors. Back then, the Forresters remember working in the fields all day, then heading home to wash down the tractors and load them up to head to a tractor pull. The sport of tractor pulling has come a long way since the Forresters began over 30 years ago.
With strong agriculture roots, Jay would work on local farmers’ tractors in his shop during the winter months. In 1976, he decided to expand his business and began selling used Ford tractors. In 1988 he became a Ford New Holland dealer.
In 2000, Jay was killed in an auto accident on his way to a tractor pull. Today, Jay’s wife, Barbara, and their children (two daughters and three sons) Linda, Lisa, Curt, Cory and Jason, are all involved in the dealership and the tractor pulling sport. Their success in both endeavors stems from the knowledge and passion Jay had for tractors.
Curt Forrester, born May 19, 1970, is the oldest of the three brothers. Curt is still single and works in the Sales and Service Department of the family’s dealership. His tractor-pulling career began at the age of 14, where he started pulling in the Farm Stock Class. Today, he pulls in the Modified Turbo Class with his Ford 8210 tractor named “Old Skool.” He is a six-time Interstate Champion, and finished third in 2006 behind his youngest brother Jason, and teammate, Scott Kisdaddon. For Curt, the thrill of the competition drives him to excel in this sport.
Cory Forrester, born December 8, 1971, is the middle brother. He met his wife, Tanya Sprenkle, at a tractor pull. They have two children, Cole, 6, and Chelcie, 2. Cory works as a Sales Manager and President of Forrester Farm Equipment. His first pulling experience was in 1984, when he won first place in the Pennsylvania State 5500 lb. Non-Turbo Farm Stock Class. Today, Cory pulls “Hot Iron,” a New Holland TG tractor that runs on alcohol. He placed first in the 2006 East Coast and Smoker series events. For Cory, tractor pulling is all about being in his element. Tractor pulling is what he knows and loves best. When he was growing up, tractor pulling was a family experience, and today, his family is still a big part of his pulling experience.
Jason Forrester, born September 17, 1976, is the youngest of the five children. Jason married his wife, Melissa Kauffman, on December 1, 2006 (a winter wedding so not to interfere with the pulling schedule). Jason works in the family dealership in the Sales Department, and also farms the family farm. He also is a partner in a custom farming operation with teammate Scott. Jason’s earliest pulling memory was at the age of 8 when he pulled at 6-cylinder 8N Ford in an antique tractor pull. In 1994, his father handed him over “PaPa Smurf,” a Ford 9000. By that time, Jay had decided he enjoyed watching and helping his boys more than actually pulling himself. Today, Jason still pulls “PaPa Smurf” in the Modified Turbo class. In 2006, Jason placed first in the Interstate Pulling Series, making it his eighth Interstate championship. He also has four American Tractor Pulling Association (ATPA) Series championships. Jason enjoys every aspect of the pulling sport- the thrill of pulling his tractor, the friends he has made on the circuit and the involvement of family and friends in the sport.
Scott Kiskaddon, born February 9, 1976, is a close family friend of the Forresters and has become an important part of the Forrester Pulling Team. He and Jason became best friends in school, which eventually led to the custom farming business partnership. Scott married his wife, Amy Baughman in April 2006. He began pulling with the team in 1996 with a Ford 9600. Today, he pulls a New Holland TS135A tractor named “Bleeding Blue.” He is still working towards his first pulling championship. Even though Scott had eight first place finishes in 2006, he placed second in the year-end points behind his teammate Jason. For Scott, pulling is all about the competition of the sport. He is very grateful for the opportunities being with the Forrester Pulling Team have offered him.
The Forrester Pulling Team is proud to be representing Ford New Holland on the tractor pulling circuit. They take seriously the opportunity to bring recognition to the New Holland name and their blue tractors.
The team extends a big thank you to their sponsors and the World Ag Expo in Tulare, California for the opportunity to participate in the West Coast Nationals Power Pulling Series. |
